Description
This 3 day course is designed to train operators of powered industrial trucks (forklifts). OSHA standard 29CFR 1910117 states: “only trained and authorized operators shall be permitted to operate a powered industrial truck.” Methods should be devised to train operators in the safe operation of powered industrial trucks. The program includes classroom instruction, hands-on training, written testing, and operational proficiency testing of operators of powered industrial trucks. In addition to the required successful completion of a written examination, each attendee must demonstrate proficiency (hands-on) in forklift operation. Other topics include inspection; maintenance; operational procedures; safety procedures; common causes of forklift incidents; and a review of OSHA and ANSI standards. The class is taught by an NCCER Authorized Instructor.
