Join us for a presentation by Dr. Rob Dietz, Chief Economist for NAHB, on the economic impact of the home-building industry in Greater Baton Rouge. Dietz is the nation’s leading expert on home construction analysis and trends and has been cited and appeared on CNBC and the Wall Street Journal. His outlook presentation will be a mix of local and national trends and will focus on local data points for permit trends, employment, housing affordability, pricing, and population growth.

He will be joined by a panel of guests:

Randy Noel, MIRM, CGB, CMP, NAHB's 2019 Immediate Past Chairman of the Board, is a Louisiana-based custom home builder with more than 30 years of experience in the residential construction industry. He has also served as chairman of the NAHB Resolutions Committee and Housing Finance Committee and has held seats on the State and Local Government Affairs Committee, the Legal Action Committee, and the Budget Committee. An expert on building code issues, Randy served as a member and chairman of the Louisiana State Uniform Construction Code Council from 2006-2011, helping to craft statewide code law and providing counsel during the formation of the inaugural Louisiana State Unified Code Council.

Kelvin Hill, Assistant Chief Administrative Officer responsible for the Baton Rouge Department of Public Works. DPW employs 1,100 employees across 7 major departments: the department of development, department of transportation & drainage, department of maintenance, department of fleet management, department of building & grounds, department of environmental services, and the department of business operations and capital programs.

Michelle Shirley, Lead Lobbyist for the Louisiana Homebuilders Association. She has worked in politics for 23 years.  Michelle has represented a range of clients from non-profits to Fortune 500 companies where she specializes in lobbying, issue management, grassroots and economic development consulting.   Michelle also has an extensive background in political consulting for dozens of elected officials ranging from statewide to local offices. Michelle has served as the lead lobbyist for Louisiana Homebuilders Association for the past 17 years where she maintains an outstanding legislative record.  In fact, her time served there resulted in the best legislative results in the association’s history.
