This is a regular meeting of the Ascension Parish Council.  You can review the agenda here. 

Information for Council Meetings:

• Wear RED to identify you are with the industry.
• Complete a RED form in opposition – you will have the opportunity to speak if you choose.
• If you choose to speak you will have 3 minutes to address the council about the Transportation Impact Fee Increase. 
• Focus on being a resident, neighbor, business partner – whether you live in Ascension Parish or elsewhere – we are all neighbors.

Transportation Impact Fee proposed changes:
• 1.34% Increase overall due to the Annual Construction Cost Index (CCI) compared to 2020 which was 5.28%.
• 10% Increase on East Bank permits which brings it from 70% to 80%. (West Bank not included)
• Numbers: When combined with the 1.34% CCI this adds $314-$343 to the permitting cost of a Single-Family Detached Dwelling.
• Since inception, the fee has generated over $10 million in revenue for designated transportation projects.

Facts about the industry:
• In AP, New Residential Construction is set to outpace the previous year numbers which is currently at 836 compared to 713 from July 1, 2019 – June 30, 2020.
• In AP, Home Sales price went up 8 % over the past year from $244,700 to $265,080 which is an 8% increase. *According to the Greater Baton Rouge Realtors Association
• EBR Transportation Impact Fee range is $595 - $855 per permit. Much lower than Ascension Parish.
• Cost of all supplies have increased including lumber, glass and home appliances.
